Well, I decided to pen some thoughts of my own this time. The topic is serious and hence this sort of emergency intervention.
In the last six months I must have spent close to a 1000 dollars (thats Rs 43000 for folks living in India) of my hard earned money on Gadgets of different shades and shapes. And that makes me wonder if… I am Gadgaddicted?
No!!! I am not trying to coin a new word for Websters…but merely trying to make a point that more and more people are being drawn to buying silly electronic stuff that hardly makes any different to one’s everyday life.
And in the process spend huge amount of cash or credit and make the manufactures (as well as the finance cos who sell you those credit cards) richer. And this kind of splurge also supports the chinese worker and the Indian call center indirectly.
Every week, I follow up the Tech World religiously and find out something new that I wish I hand and sometimes I take the trouble to order one for myself once in a while (thus making me poorer by a few hundred dollars which I could have invested in a few stocks or saved for a bigger home).
But I think I am finally getting cured of this disease (atleast until I manage to sell the pile thats already lying around) and if you don’t believe me, offer you to visit my home and check out the Gadget Museum I have created… and confirm the advent of this new disease….(”No”…..I am not going to create a website for this..I will put my thoughts on this addiction seperately, another time)
Ahem
